Thin LCD TV

How to Buy a Thin LCD TV

  1. Before you buy a television for your home it is important to decide which size is the best fit for the room you plan to place the television in. This often involves measuring the cabinet or area you would like to place the television along with the distance between your seating area and the tv.

  2. One advantage of any lcd television is that it can be used as both a computer monitor and a television. The ultra thin lcd televisions can easily be mounted on the wall oftentimes extending from the wall about the same amount as a standard picture frame.

  3. Choose your pixel size based on the distance your seating area is from the television. With a relatively long viewing distance you can use a lower pixel size such as 720p or 1080i. At a close distance pixel size will begin to matter and you will want to stick with a 1080p lcd tv.

  4. Make sure you have a good understanding of the budget you have for an lcd television. Pricing will vary with the screen resolution supported and manufacturer. If you are buying a television for use in a bedroom for infrequent use you can oftentimes save money by choosing a lower-resolution television or generic brand.

How to find a cheap LCD TV

If price is a conern you should look for refurbished LCD TV's. You can usually visit the manufacturers website and do a simple search for either "refurbished lcd" or "lcd outlet". This is a great way to get a perfectly fine television for a better price than if you were to buy retail.

Another way to find a cheap LCD television is to visit your local electronics retailer and ask if they have any floor models for sale. In many cases you can negotiate the price on floor models but make sure every feature works on the tv and there is no noticeable damage to the exterior. Damage on the outside of a lcd tv could indicate the television has been dropped which could degrade the quality over time.
